Been looking for peace, but they 're bringing you more

I think everyhing is very important now. So I stop to breathe to enjoy the moment. But I don't enjoy any moment. Actually I don't even breathe. Truth is, the only thing that brings me to my true senses and I feel a bit connected with something, is music. And my stupid iPod crushed. In these difficult times, technology is not at all supportive (internet connection at home is out of the question, don't even have established home address) Seems though that in a month I'm moving to Brasil.

After this confession, first one in a blog, I present you my super collection of covers:

1. I Want You (She's So Heavy) (Beatles Cover) - Io Echo
2. Sound Of Silence (Simon and Garfunkel cover) - Emiliana Torrini
3. Across The Universe (The Beatles Cover) - Rufus Wainwright
4. I'm Not There (Bob Dylan Cover) - Sonic Youth
5. The Biggest Lie (Elliott Smith Cover) - Bright Eyes
6. Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah
7. Sunday Morning (Velvet Underground Cover) - Beck
8. O, Dana (Big Star Cover) - Okkervil River
9. Kangaroo (Big Star Cover) - This Mortal Coil
10 Islands in the Stream (Dolly Parton Cover) - Feist and The Constantines
11. Simeon's Dilemma (Why? Cover) - The Sarcastic Dharma Society
12. Everywhere (Fleetwood Mac Cover) - Lucy Wainwright Roche
13. Be My Baby (The Ronettes cover) - Linda Ronstadt
14. You Can Call Me Al (Paul Simon cover) - Sam Roberts

my first radio show

I've always been a lover of Jonathan Coe's books. So when I got the chance to make a radio show combining music and literature, this was an obvious choice. Here you may listen to my show, originally on internet air on 16/06/09 at vmradio. It goes on for two hours, as I read some extracts of Coe's book "The house of sleep", in greek translation.

Enjoy!

primavera sound 2009

The thing is I don't remember much from Primavera. I just have a small recollection of memories concerning the people who carried around beer and sold it for 5 euros. Ye, I missed Sonic Youth and Deerhunter. I was fucking Cinderella on Saturday, left before midnight. Despite all that, it rocked. Here is my hangover list of memories.

A Certain Feeling, Deep And Wide

This one is a drug really. It certainly is the drug that may release me from my ache. It's an ache I prefer to have than to be left with the absense of feeling. On the same time, you can't really joke about it - it's true, as it is fresh. Lust and pain and fear and fireworks you wish you knew how to unleash.

You are the blood
Running through my fingers

A certain feeling
It is familiar
Deep and wide

Here's looking at you, kid

People should get killed if they haven't already watched Casablanca about 3-4 times. But it just hasn't happened to me yet. Among other things I guess. Still searching for the perfect moment for such a big movie. Anyway, the line is another story and we should thank Bogart and poker for that matter.

In any case, this is the playlist for a great weekend (I checked my sign and things are looking up) (as if I wasn't aware of that) with very fresh and up-to-beat tunes.

Here's looking at you, kid

15. Lisztomania by Phoenix

Not that imaginary

I have a great fondness for Canadian musicians. This guy is a bit too ambient - noise for my taste, however I always like them when they perform live and I feel lost in his "imaginary country". Tonight and tomorrow at Kinky Kong, Tim Hecker.

this one deserves special attention

Passion Pit is an American electro band from Cambridge, Massachusetts. Formed in 2007, the group consists of Michael Angelakos (don't know about the origin) (lead vocals/keyboards), Ian Hultquist (keyboards), Ayad Al Adhamy (synth/samples), Jeff Apruzzese (bass) and Nate Donmoyer (drums). Sounds like MGMT meets Chairlift, La Roux, Air France and Lykke Li. Works well on a train heading away from the city. Music to my ears, really. Seems to be most blogged artist in Elbo.ws and Hypem.com.

Njoy!
